Our History

For 30 years, our charity has given parents and carers a place to stay when their child is in hospital in Glasgow.

External flowersAs Yorkhill Family House, Ronald McDonald House Glasgow, and now Crossbasket House, we have supported more than 15,000 families from across Scotland and beyond.

Thanks to our generous donors, volunteers and fundraisers, we can ensure that parents are close to their children, when they are far from home.

Established in 1996, Yorkhill Family House was located on the site of the former children's hospital in Yorkhill. Later known as Ronald McDonald House Glasgow, and now Crossbasket House, it has provided accommodation and support to families with seriously ill children, offering compassion and care during their most challenging times.

In June 2015, the hospital moved to the Royal Hospital for Children, where we proudly continue to support families today. In November 2024, Crossbasket House joined the Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity group of charities.

Thanks to the generosity of our donors, fundraisers, and volunteers, Crossbasket House remains a safe haven for families and caregivers during their most difficult times.
